Family plots

A lot of Green-Wood uses the "family plot" model, where family members are all buried together in a single plot, tomb, or what have you. In the areas we walked around in last night, a lot of the plots are marked by a single larger monumnent, and then individuals are marked by smaller stones indicating only kinship, such as "Father," "Mother," or "Uncle." Sometimes initials were used instead of kinship relations.

This was a definite "Whaa?" moment for me during the second debate. McCain called Obama out for earmarking $3 mil for an "overhead projector" for a planetarium. Nevermind that those things could only barely be called "overhead projectors," never mind that they're used to teach science, never mind that museums across the country get federal funding for this stuff. And never mind that the earmark was not in fact, funded.
