Cobbles

Cobbles

By this time in our journey around the borough, I was feeling every single one of these cobblestones and potholes.

"When the towers are perfectly upright, the tops of the towers were designed to be 1 5/8 inches further apart from their bases. The towers are so high and so far apart that compensation for the curvature of the earth results in this difference." More.

Enter

Enter

Partial facade of the South Shore Incinerator building, showing a detail of the least welcoming entrance sign I've ever seen. Also notable because I think the South Shore Incinerators would be a great name for a AAA ball team.

Lawn

Lawn

Northeast corner of Brooklyn. I was really into this simulacrum of a lawn but then felt immediately bad about it when the woman living here walked out and saw me with my camera.

United Rentals

Once, when I was driving through Austin at like 1 in the morning, I saw a Genie/Cherrypicker rental place sort of just like this, with all the machines' arms extended, and I sort of couldn't get over how beautiful that was. I didn't manage to take a picture of that, and admittedly the effect is a little stronger in the middle of the night, floodlit, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a similar scene on our ride today.

Neil and Kio atop a pile of I beams, shortly to be harassed by a Keyspan security guard. Neil harassed right back.

Trav's TrucKin

Trav was totally down with our collective compulsion to photograph his truck. 10 seconds later he was waving to us.

What's that sign say?

The sign said Open for Business.

Ruination

Ruination

You can only barely see it but the security car behind the signs on the fence was also pretty beat up.
