Aviation High School

"From Sophomores to Seniors, they wear coveralls. It is full body coverage to protect from oil, paint and other corrosive and messy materials." Article makes no mention of the fenced-off area in the back holding old fighter planes, nonetheless they exist.

Part of my commute

Part of my commute

Don't let the pleasant sundown fool you - this is the hairiest part of the whole ride - 34th street between 8h ave and the river. Not much traffic that day so I took a picture at a stoplight.

The object of my affection

The object of my affection

I spent a lot of today in Long Island City, helping to put this little doohickey together. Not sure why the banner on the right ended up being doublesided. Just was.

Aviation High School is for serious

Aviation High School is for serious

I thought "Oh, Aviation High School probably used to be some place where they taught pilots back in the olden days" or something. My own high school phased out "Industrial Arts" - like car maintenance and presumably pilot stuff - more or less about the time I got there. New York is different.

My Egypt

My favorite. I was just talking to my mom about the Hopper exhibit at the MFA and it came up that while I like Hopper a lot I like Demuth a lot more.

Animated overlay of U.S. presidential election results by county from 1960-2004

Interesting look at which regions vote for whom.

HIV Test Demonstration

My work in print. Sort of. In print, online. FYI, a little teaching moment: Placing targets over the faces of politicians is an established tactic within the HIV/AIDS activist community to represent a politician who's a target for ire.

The Fantastic in Art & Fiction

Ranging from treatises on prodigies from the 17th century all the way up to issues of Amazing stories.

I just lost so much of my life to this.
