Flotsam Science

Wish I could read this now, but I guess that's what del.icio.us is for. Looks to be very interesting - I especially like the participatory segment down at the bottom. Much cooler than the usual Comments block.

Gold Teeth Thief

Can't believe I hadn't archived/posted this here already - but immediately following DJ /Rupture's set, I was reminded and now I have done so. He's taking noise, music, sound and culture deep into his belly and spitting it back out thru his fingertips. ♥
Part 1 / Part 2

First Cut is the Deepest

Promo clip for another track I heard tonight, post /Rupture. P.P. Arnold's version of the Cat Stevens original - Cat considered hers to be "definitive." Thx Wikipedia!

Up With People

This might be one of a slew of mp3 postings right now. This song featured in the midst of the background music prior to a DJ /Rupture set at Southpaw, and though I dearly love Oneida, I'd ignored their most recent album (!) which this song appears on.

Chicago Type

Along similar lines as the previous link. I think that every major city exists as a rich typographic macrocosm. All's I'm saying is that, given the number of cities, and given the number of signs, there should be evidence of distinct type histories.

A Man Who Minds His P’s and Q’s

Paul Shaw is evidently a man after my own heart.

Butter on Cane

Uptown Top Ranking

A bizarre but well-concieved cover of the classic Althea and Donna track by Scout Niblett. "Love is all I bring inna me khaki suit and ting."

Lioness

MP3 Mania continues. Despite the overall quality of The Magnolia Electric Co. album, Lioness is absolutely bar-none my favorite Songs:Ohia song. Way to post it up, SC.

I don’t want to set the world on fire

"I don't want to set the world on fire / I just want to start / A flame in your heart" via projectionist. I often feel this way.

Anglerfish

via laauren. Again, three things about this page are great:
- A wallpaper of the anglerfish, described as the "ugliest animal on the planet."
- A handy size comparison to a teacup.
- The anglerfish has the weirdest reproduction method I know of.

Available Emblems of Belief for Placement on Government Headstones and Markers

Three things:
- Big ups to the VA for posting the newly approved Wiccan symbol so quickly.
- The Atheist symbol is possibly the lamest thing I've ever seen.
- Copyright?

Murder Me, Rachael

The National make the best straight-up, epic, sadass-Springsteen bar-band quitar rock going. Their label used to have an online player for their album, Alligator, but it's gone missing. So here's a standout from the album before that.

Gravures from Pojet

Now you can build your own Married to the Sea clone. If you so choose.

Everything Hits at Once

This video is a little bit much, but it's beautifully done; and this is undeniably still my favorite Spoon song. I think Gordon's out of the shower now, I promise I'll stop.

Full Grown Man

Continuing the YouTube spree (I need to use the bathroom and Gordon's taking a shower). Its a shame there's no good footage from when I saw him earlier this year, in his light-up glam jean jacket. This saturated down-home video will have to do.
More: Joe Tex, These Taming Blues

Chimeras

Courtesy of Pitchfork. I can't say enough about Tim Hecker - I discovered his work through an EP put out by Alien8 made of samples from Van Halen ephemera and he's getting much better with age. This track is off the masterpiece Harmony in Ultraviolet.

Caecilia

Off of Endless Summer. I don't know if this is an official music video (imagine seeing it on MTV Jamz) but it certainly could be. The vocals near the end (when the dog comes in) really cement the song for me.

Angel’s birthday = No children

I can remember the moment I started to love the Mountain Goats. It was driving through from New York to Austin with Angel. Forces converged during this song coming out poor old Adlai Stevenson's Volvo Brand Speakers.

Brick House

Brick House

Not a house anymore. From a weirdly evocative (de)construction site down in Chelsea (I think at 8th ave and 16th st).
